Fully plant based, the cuisine is amazing. Its great food and great ambience. Joey was our very friendly waiter and took a lot of patience helping us explaining about the restaurant and the menu. We got lucky to visit before they close down on this one at Bunker Hill on Dec 21st, and move to tgier new location near Lafayette Hotel, at 2611 El Cajon and opening on 2/13/2025, replacing current ' The Village', which is also plant based. We got 1. The sourdough bread - it was soo soft and warm, just perfect for the weather. It came with options for the sides like either walnut sauce, or vinegar and olive oil, etc. 2. Pizza: The widower - weird name for a pizza - it had black garlic, red onions, kale and calabrian peppers - yummm 3. Lasagna : my first experiance with a lasagna and I think I made a good choice. 4. Samolina cake with tangerines for dessert : this did not interest my palatte, but the presentation was exotic. It came with a coconut whipped cream- interesting. Overall food was great. Will definitely visit again if I get a chance.

I'm still dreaming of this beautiful and romantic restaurant with the most delectable vegan cuisine. I wish Atlanta had something similar! The service was impeccable - my server was friendly, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. I was lucky enough to dine there during a special event. The lasagna was a generous portion, rich with flavorful cheese and a mouthwatering sauce. The Caesar salad was divine, and the Nashville hot chicken was fire! Seriously, every bite was pure perfection. This restaurant truly knows how to elevate dining, and I hope to return soon to explore more of their menu.

A great restaurant with great atmosphere and fully vegan! Some friends took me here without me knowing it was vegan, but that just added to the experience getting to try many new things. Honestly, everything was so delicious, you have to try the hot shrooms as a starter (it was like fried chicken!). As a non-vegan, the Mac and cheese did not taste like Mac and cheese but it was an incredibly rich pasta dish that I recommend! Pizza was absolutely delicious and flavorful, would definitely recommend to any vegan or non vegan friends.

I 1000% recommend this establishment to all! Their dishes don't even taste Vegan if you ask me and my daughter. She was actually a little scared to eat the Mac and cheese because she said it tasted too real and she has dairy allergies. lol I had the privilege to try so many dishes when we visited. The omelet, their house bread with garlic dip (chef's kiss), their version of a pazookie, the olive cake, and the pecan French toast with squash.. omg, I don't think there was any plate I didn't enjoy. And the plating was so aesthetic and so was the environment. So charming and felt like o was somewhere else! Definitely visit this spot next time you're in San Diego.

Donna Jean is probably one of my favorite feel good filling breakfast spots + their dinner menu is amazing too. Went on a Saturday morning recently had the tofu scramble and the breakfast calzone Super good and delicious

Great brunch spot. We sat outside and the ambiance was nice. Food was flavorful & delicious. We made reservations ahead of time. They share parking with Evolution (another yummy vegan spot). I ordered the Spanish omelette (Spanish tortilla) and it was delicious. Beware that it is not as filling as you'd think. So, I would recommend getting another dish, too. The New Mexico Chili Chocolate Pie (also GF) was creative and tasted great. They have scattered gluten free options on their menu, but they didn't have gluten free pizza dough when I went--It seems like that's a thing based off of reviews. So, I'd call in ahead of time to check on the GF crust if you're in the mood for pizza.

I love my vegan/vegetarian restaurants, especially Donna Jean! Donna Jean has a seasonal menu which is nice since I can always try something new each time. This time I got the lasagna which was delicious! I liked the sauce and the fresh basil on top. Finished the sauce with the crust from someone else's pizza in my party, even. I appreciate that Donna Jean doesn't cook with peanuts since I'm allergic. They are very cashew heavy though, I don't mind because I like the taste, but that is something to note. Portion sizes are a bit small for the price, though, for everything but the pizzas. I've visited a few times and service is always top notch! And I love the outdoor seating with candles. Wish the bathrooms were a little cleaner though. Will definitely be back since I have many vegan friends!

While we were in San Diego, my sweet, best friend suggested quite a few vegan restaurants for us to check out. We looked up the menu for Donna Jean & instantly fell in love. We wanted to try their famous pizzas, but were too stuffed after our brunch, so we vowed to come back again soon. We made a reservation, just in case it was super busy, & we were glad we did when we noticed it filling up quickly after we had already been seated. The staff was very friendly & welcoming, & we sat outside amongst the beautiful flowers & other plants, enjoying the perfect day! We ordered: House Bread with garlic butter: this bread is the same they make their pizza crust out of & it was to die for! Chicken Fried Shrooms: a take on chicken fried steak, but using maitake mushrooms instead! It came with country gravy, greens, & biscuits. Hot Shrooms: my favorite! Fried Nashville style mushrooms, pickles, & hot sauce. Just the right amount of heat & the flavor was incredible. I'd highly recommend this place, whether you are plant-based or not!

Donna Jean has been on my list to try in San Diego for the longest time now, and I am so glad that I finally tried it! My friend and I decided to come here on a whim on a Sunday night--since I know this place is popular, I wanted to see if we needed to make reservations. They still had plenty of availability, but if you're planning ahead just know that they are closed on Tuesdays. I love trying out vegan restaurants and seeing how creative folks get with their combinations. Donna Jean really does have a very unique selection of appetizers, pizzas, and pastas here! Hot Shrooms (5/5): - This is a MUST order here--their seasoning and sauce is fantastic and their mushrooms are actually spicy! The pickles that come with the mushrooms also leave a kick in your mouth, this was by far my favorite dish of the evening. Black Widow Pizza (4/5): - Our waiter highly recommend this pizza and I am inclined to agree! This is an unexpected flavor combination and their black garlic-date puree with pickled peppers is divine. Matcha Cheesecake (4/5): - Vegan cheesecake can be very dense depending on the ingredients used to make it. This is one of the better vegan cheesecakes I have had in terms of consistency but I was sad that there wasn't much matcha flavor shining through. The cheesecake is also quite dense so we weren't able to finish it. I'll definitely be returning to Donna Jean to try their other offerings! I also love that they have parking available, they share a lot with evolution fast food so you won't have to struggle with Bankers Hill parking.
